William P., Md Egan

September 4, 1934 — November 13, 2016

William Patrick Egan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 13th, 2016 at the age of 82.



William was born in Decorah, Iowa, September 4th, 1934, son of the late Dr. Thomas and Ethel Egan.



He was a 1959 graduate of Creighton Medical School and served his internship at Saint Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco.



He served in the Coast Guard as a medic on ship off the coast of Newfoundland and served in the Public Health Service as a Senior Assistant Surgeon with the Federal Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.



He took his residency in Psychiatry at Indiana University Medical Center and was an Assistant Chairman and Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at Creighton University.



He went on to the staff of St. Joseph’s Center for Mental Health and maintained a private practice. Upon the closing of St Joseph’s, he moved to practice at the VA and Douglas County Hospitals. He was also called upon for expert testimony for criminal trials.



Predeceased by parents, Dr. Thomas and Ethel Egan, brothers Dr. James Egan, and Robert Egan



Survived by Children, Shiuvaun Egan, Kathleen Egan (Bruce Soppe), William Thomas Egan, Caroline LaVelle Egan (Dunja Kromp),



Grandchildren, Laura Jenson, Jack Jenson



Special Companion, Char Grothues



Brothers, Dr. Thomas (Joan) Egan, Dr. Richard (Hope) Egan,



and his beloved cat Diablo. He was a wonderful man who will be sorely missed. Please join us for a celebration of this great man’s life at American Legion Post #1, 7811 Davenport Street, Omaha, Nebraska, immediately following funeral services. PLEASE NO FLOWERS. Memorial Service Saturday (11-19/16) 12:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church, Omaha, Nebraska.



Visitation:

Friday (11-18-16) 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the John A. Gentleman 72nd Street Chapel, Omaha, Nebraska.



Interment:

Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska



Memorials:
